My Approach to Counselling & Therapy
A warm, relational, and integrative approach, online and in person.
Clients tell me that my genuine, open and empathic approach helps them feel able to be themselves and explore difficult experiences and emotions without fear of judgement. For me, the relationship we build is at the heart of counselling and therapy.
As an Integrative Counsellor, I work with the whole person, not the “label.” What brings you to counselling matters, but so does the person underneath it — your experiences, relationships, patterns and sense of yourself. Rather than listing the areas I work with and trying to fit you into one of them, I’m interested in understanding what’s happening for you, what may sit underneath it, and what you want to change.
I have no agenda other than to help you understand and work through what’s holding you back. As an integrative therapist, I draw from a broad range of therapeutic approaches, adapting how we work to you and what you need. These include:
-
Person-centred therapy - offering empathy, respect, and non-judgmental support.
-
Psychodynamic insight - exploring how past experiences shape current emotions and behaviour.
-
Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) - to help reframe unhelpful thinking patterns and create positive change.
-
Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS) - exploring the protective and wounded parts within you to support self-awareness, healing, integration, and emotional balance.
-
Rewind Technique - a highly effective trauma treatment that helps you process distressing memories without needing to relive them.
I sometimes use creative interventions to explore thoughts and feelings that can be difficult to put into words. I’ll share ideas as we go, but there’s no set formula. We’ll work together to find what feels most helpful for you, adapting the therapy as we go.
Counselling sessions can take place online or in person at my East London practice, usually weekly or fortnightly. I offer both short- and longer-term therapy, depending on what brings you and what you need. We’ll work collaboratively, regularly reflecting on how the therapy is going and whether what we’re doing is helpful.
