HOW I GOT HERE
Helping me to help you!
Why I Do This Work
Life has taught me that the world can sometimes feel complicated, overwhelming and isolating. At times we can all become stuck without the capacity or tools to move forward. My journey led me to become a therapist and a coach—to be someone people can turn to. Whether it’s helping people make sense of their emotions and behaviours, or supporting them in achieving their future aspirations, I believe everyone has the potential and deserves the chance to lead a happier, more fulfilling life.
Many of the people I work with are looking for a space to think more clearly, understand themselves better, and find a way forward when life feels complicated or overwhelming — somewhere they can pause, reflect and work things through without judgement.
My Background
After 20+ years in IT management roles across Operations, Sales and Training, I joined a People Development consultancy delivering global talent and transformation programmes. Working globally sparked my love of travel, and perhaps a hint of midlife crisis gave me the courage to pursue it! So in 2015, I took an 18-month career break, travelling to around 19 countries.
Travelling deepened my desire to work more closely with people, and the nagging feeling since my early 30s to retrain as a therapist returned. I reflected on my strengths, skills and values and tested the idea through volunteering and training courses before completing a degree as a psychotherapeutic counsellor.
After gaining experience in both the charity and private sectors, I opened my private practice in thriving Hackney Wick, overlooking the canal. I love my work and continue to be in awe of the psyche and its capacity to heal.
A nagging itch told me my career transition wasn’t complete. I missed the dynamic buzz of the business world and wanted to utilise the experience I’d built there. I formalised my coaching skills through an EMCC-accredited Practitioner Level coaching qualification, enabling me to support clients with personal and professional development. I’m now working towards EMCC Senior Practitioner accreditation while working with individuals, solopreneurs, start-ups and the private sector.
My coaching is informed by my counselling background, while remaining a distinct, forward-focused discipline. Like my counselling training, this keeps my approach current, grounded in theory and reflective practice, and focused on meaningful, sustainable change.
The combination of my life experience, psychological training, business background and thousands of hours of one-to-one work allows me to support people in meaningful change — helping them move beyond limiting beliefs, psychological obstacles and unhelpful patterns so they can heal, grow and realise their potential.
I’ve found the balance. Let me help you find yours.
If you’re wondering whether counselling or coaching might be helpful for you, you’re welcome to get in touch.
Outside of Work
On a more personal note, I enjoy yoga, long walks and the odd loud rock gig, music festival and fringe theatre production. I still love to travel, with an endless bucket list of countries and cultures to visit.
Fun fact about me: I hate cheese.
