ABOUT ME
Warm, welcoming & down-to-earth
Life has taught me that for many reasons, the world can be a distressing place; we can become stuck, overwhelmed & feel we have nowhere to turn. My personal journey led me to become a Counsellor to be someone people can turn towards – helping them make sense of their emotions & behaviours to make positive changes to move forward in their lives. I truly believe everyone has the potential & deserves the chance to lead the life they want.
In my corporate background, I travelled extensively, both in Sales & delivering People Development, Coaching & Project Management around the world. This has allowed me to work with & appreciate people from many walks of life, continuing in my Counselling Practice today. For you, this means that I have learnt to value people as unique individuals where I appreciate how tough it can be to share thoughts & feelings, so how we will work together will respect that.
As a member of the BACP, I am fully qualified & work ethically & in your interest. In addition to my Private Practice, my Counselling experience includes working with Cruse Bereavement Care, St Josephs Hospice & working with a young people's Sports Charity, designing mental health programmes & providing Counselling & Group Therapy. I also currently work with ABL Dayhab, a holistic, non-residential drug & alcohol rehabilitation programme where I facilitate workshops, in addition to Counselling. I'm also a qualified Clinical Hypnotherapist & Fellow Member of Creative Counsellors - if desired, I can incorporate creative interventions in our work together in the form of visualisations, guided meditations, working with metaphors, sand, nesting dolls & more. Rather than 'labelling' the areas I work with, my experience includes working with all manner of emotional difficulties & life events that prevent us from leading the life we want. My Counselling experience, combined with my corporate background, means I bring a warm, welcoming & down-to-earth approach to my work.
When I'm not working I enjoy yoga, long walks, great food & the odd loud rock gig, music festival & fringe theatre production. I still love to travel & continue to tick distant exotic cultures & countries off my bucket list.
